Take Action with Amazon Workers on September 18th

Ashrei Supports Amazon Worker’s Rights!

In late August, Ashrei Executive Director, Sara Ruiz, attended an Amazon Workers Solidarity Meeting, coordinated by our partners at the Missouri Worker’s Center.

The center summarizes the meeting as follows:

Attendees heard from Mr. Ringo and Robyn, two Amazon STL8 workers, about how Amazon pushes them to work at breakneck pace that wrecks workers bodies but pays them such meager wages that 53% of Amazon workers struggle with food insecurity, 48% have housing insecurity, and 33% rely on public assistance like food stamps.

Amazon is a threat to all of us who are fighting for an economy that works for us all. With Amazon in the driver's seat, the 21st century economy looks grim. But with workers and allies like you in labor, faith, civil rights, and community joining together, we have hope for an economy that puts people over profit and wins economic and racial justice for all of us!

Two ways to Act:

Amazon workers at STL8 are currently organizing a petition drive to demand a $25 minimum wage for all Amazon workers, safe working conditions, and an end to caps on raises after 36 months. The STL8 organizing committee has already signed over 700 workers to their petition!

On Wednesday, September 18th workers will take direct action and march on their boss with their demands.

Can you join them in solidarity for a rally and press conference?
