Protect DEI Education in MO

Check out this action opportunity from the Missouri Budget Project:

Last year, we worked hard to prevent the language that would have undermined efforts around diversity, equity and inclusion from passing the MO Legislature. You made a significant difference with your voice!

Unfortunately, there are several bills that have been proposed by state lawmakers, which would have similar consequences. Specifically, the Missouri House General Laws Committee will hold a hearing at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, 2/13/2024 to consider several bills that would restrict public and private entities from conducting training or providing initiatives that include diversity, equity and inclusion. Four of the bills, HB 2365, HB 2448, HB 2569, and  HB 2619 are limited to State Departments, while HB 2567 would impact public and private higher education medical institutions from undertaking diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

The consequences of these bills would be wide-ranging and undermine the state's economic and workforce priorities:

  • The bills would jeopardize licensing and accreditation of programs within state departments and private health care entities that are critical to both the wellbeing of Missourians and our state’s economic competitiveness; and

  • Would place billions of federal dollars at risk.

Moreover, Missourians continue to face deep disparities in their health and economic outcomes based on race, ethnicity and gender. These bills would undermine efforts to understand and address those disparities.

For those unable to testify in person at the hearing on Tuesday, you can share your concerns about these bills through the following link:
