Volunteer Training

Application Support Volunteer

We always welcome new individuals to join the North City Photo ID Project as an Application Support Volunteer! In just 3 easy steps, you’ll be ready to go. It just involves watching some online/recorded trainings and then coming to shadow once or twice before committing to a particular volunteer shift. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Volunteer Training & Orientation (combined in 2024)
Please watch the volunteer training below (or online here), which gives a big picture overview of what our program is and how it works. It also includes day-of logistics, specific roles and responsibilities, and other site-specific details. Some things have changed since the recording, but nothing major; differences will be reviewed during your shadow shift (see next step).

  2. Shadow
After watching the recordings, please sign-up for a volunteer shift(s) online; just use the "Shadow/Training Only" shift to sign-up. They're listed as 4-hour shifts, but if you can't stay the whole time, that's ok! Please plan to stay for at least 2 hours.

  3. Volunteer
When you’re ready, simply click the button below to sign-up for a volunteer shift(s) online. Welcome!

Document Teams

In Fall 2023, we launched the Document Teams. Volunteers on the Delivery Team will coordinate meetings with individuals who have participated in the clinic in order to deliver their ID and/or birth certificate. Volunteers on the Pick-Up Team will arrange meetings at our office at the Hub for guests to pick-up their ID and/or birth certificates.

To get involved, please watch the training below, then fill out the Volunteer Interest Form or email Betsy Miller, Interim Project Coordinator of the North City Photo ID Project.

Data entry volunteers

In Spring 2025, we launched the Data Entry Volunteer program! As our program continues to expand, entering the data of guests served each week has become quite the task - and we need your help! Data Entry Volunteers for the North City Photo ID Project work remotely to track program data that will be used for many reasons, including: follow-up with program guests, program effectiveness & evaluation, impact trends, statewide data analysis, advocacy.

To get involved, please watch the training below, sign the Confidentiality Agreement, then email Elana Hertel or Sara Ruiz to get started!

Additional Links for data entry:

In the Data Entry Volunteer Training above, Sara mentioned several supporting documents. They are included here for your reference, along with a PDF of the training slides.
